In Hawaii, we have a saying: ‘If you’re not standing under the palm tree when the coconut falls, your head won’t get hurt.’
A lot of coconuts fell in 2008. But Mango Bank is still standing.
Yes, it had a lot to do with stony foresight and sticky fortitude. And yes, our hardy resilience played a part too. But mostly, we’re still here today because we never stood under the palm tree in the first place.
We’ll carry on avoiding the coconuts in 2009. That’s our promise to you. And when the sun sets on another year, we hope you’ll be there with us to raise a piña colada or two.
