I’ve been running regularly for thirty years now. For me it links to writing. Often, when I’m out running, I’m thinking about a piece of writing that I have to do. There are no interruptions to your thinking: no one to talk to you, no phone to ring, no email to open. Just your thoughts inside your head: concentrated thinking.
I’m grateful to running, as I’m grateful to writing. So when I signed up to run the Paris Marathon (on 11 April 2010) I thought I should show my gratitude by running for a cause. I’ve chosen to run and raise money for Tree House, a charity that supports the education of autistic children. If you can support me, I’ll be very grateful and so will Tree House. Have a wonderful break and a great year in 2010.

Hi John,
Looks like a great cause, and good luck with the marathon training. I too am running the Paris Marathon in 2010 (for The Stroke Association), so if you have any tips for staying motivated through the winter…
