2018/2019

This time of year is always about looking back and looking forward, while trying sometimes frantically to enjoy the present (and the presents). To celebrate the present and wish you all a merry Christmas, here’s Jessie’s photo of the Light Project’s studio dog Bill Murray.

Looking back, looking forward, this year Urbane published my third novel The Good Messenger. Everyone who reads it seems to love it so it could be that Christmas present you’ve been seeking for a reader friend or family member https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1911583883/ref=pe_1572281_66412651_cm_rv_eml_rv0_dp

I’ve also been writing a fourth novel set among artists in Paris in 1908, and I hope to finish it next year. The research has been enjoyable.

The Good Messengeris also the basis for a writers’ weekend workshop at Hawkwood in mid-January.Neil Baker and I will be working with a small group to explore our writers’ purpose through a new set of Dark Angels exercises. Should be fun – still time to sign up http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/courses-and-events/arts/the-good-messenger—a-dark-angels-writing-workshop

Hawkwood in Gloucestershire was the venue for one of the year’s absolute highlights when a group of 30+ Dark Angels gathered to have fun with words and stories at the summer solstice.

Finally, it’s very much a positive transition period with Dark Angels as our new partners become increasingly active in our programme. To give physical form to this development and to synthesise our philosophy, the twelve Dark Angels partners have each written a chapter of a book Dark Angels on Writing that will be published by Unbound in 2019. I think this will be an important book in the writing world. You can pre-order it here. https://unbound.com/books/dark-angels-on-writing/

Have a great 2019 and thanks for all your support this year.
